Our Final Update from the Kanakuk Institute 2010

Dearest Friends and Family…                                                                                       Summer 2010

Hello to all!  We’re writing to you once again from the beauty of the Ozarks—is it REALLY summer already???  What a year it’s been—and all thanks to YOU and the goodness of God!  We just wanted to give you all an “update” as we have wrapped our time up at the Kanakuk Institute and head full-speed into a summer full of fun and lots of hard work at Kanakuk Kamps… and then a new adventure in a new place for us in August!

It’s truly been one for the books, folks—we’ve learned and experienced a fullness of life this year at the Kanakuk Institute that we look forward to building on for the rest of our lives!  We believe that we have been equipped for a lifetime of ministry—and that we still have a LOT to learn!

The major project we were required to complete was a compilation of our “Belief Statements”.  These statements of belief covered the topics that are essential to our faith, such as the Trinity, the Church, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, and Man-Sin-Salvation—just to name a few.  Each belief statement was no more than half of a page long, but every single claim in each belief statement was supported by Scripture.  Our final project was to prepare a defense for a panel of administrators and community church leaders.  It was tough—but AWESOME! The process forced us to really think about what we believe —and WHY.  We’re so thankful that we’ve had the opportunity to really explore the essence of our faith together! Thank you for your part in supporting us through this experience!

Our summer is jam-packed full of long days and lots and lots of time with kids.  We’re working at K-Seven Kanakuk Kamp, where our main goal every day is that kids would come to have a relationship with God through the way we live, serve, teach, and love.  We’ve never been so exhausted and so energized at the same time.  Please pray for endurance and encouragement as we continue to run the race God has marked out for us this summer!

And guess what?  We have been invited to come join the staff of OMAHA K-LIFE!  K-Life is a similar ministry to Kanakuk, targeting middle-school and high-school kids for the purpose of encouraging them in their walk with the Lord and teaching them Biblical discipleship.  Clay will be taking the position of Area Director in Omaha this August—and prayerfully, with growth of the ministry, Becca will join him on staff soon! (Until then, please pray for the perfect part-time job for Becca!)  We’re pretty encouraged by the families we’ve met and the kids we’re going to be building relationships with.  Please continue to pray with us as we dive into the next big adventure!  If your heart is to continue to support our ministry financially, please get in touch with us about Omaha K-Life!  You can specifically pray for financial wisdom for Clay and Becca together, for growth of the K-Life ministry in Omaha, for community and a solid church for us as we move to a brand new place, and that we’ll look to the Lord in provision for all things as we work diligently to serve Him in all ways.

More than anything, though, we want to thank you for faithfully supporting us and praying with us over the course of this past year.  We recognize that we are who we are because of who God has changed us to be—and that we have come as far as we have because of YOU…your genuine interest in God’s plan for us as a couple has enabled this very foundational year of marriage, training, and learning for us.  Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!

Please stay in touch with us this year and keep us up-to-date on your lives!  We love you and are so thankful for you!

In Christ Alone Our Hope is Found,
Clay and Becca
